The summer transfer window is fast approaching and Manchester United could have some help from other clubs to secure the deal that they want.

Ruben Amorim has been busy assessing his squad over the last four months since he was appointed in November.

It remains to be seen what exact plans United will have for when the summer transfer window opens, but it seems that a new striker may be at the top of the wishlist. Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund are the current centre forward options in the United squad, and there has been plenty of talk that United could go into the market for reinforcements in the summer.

One player who has been heavily linked with signing for United is Lille star Jonathan David. The Canada international is out of contract in the summer and is currently available to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside France over a free transfer in the summer.

One issue United may have is that other clubs are being linked with strikers, as well. The likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Barcelona are all reported to be looking for a new centre forward in the summer, as well as United.

This could force United to have increased competition for the signing of David. However, for those other clubs, there have been other strikers that have been linked with moves this summer.

Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has been heavily linked with signing for a new club in the summer. Arsenal, Liverpool and Barcelona are all reported to be interested in the Sweden international, who is expected to have a price tag in excess of £100million.

Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitike has also been tipped to be a sought-after striker in the summer. Both Liverpool and Arsenal have had their names mentioned in the rumour mill when it comes to potential destinations for the striker when the transfer window opens.

Then there is Viktor Gyokeres, who has also been mentioned as a possible target for United in the past. The Sporting Lisbon striker has also been credited as a potential player of interest to Arsenal and Barcelona and is likely to be in demand when the transfer window opens.

If Isak, Eiktike and Gyokeres end up signing for either Liverpool, Arsenal and Barcelona, respectively, it could help United this summer. It would mean that fewer clubs would be in the race to sign David, therefore giving the Reds potentially a clear run to strengthen their centre forward options for free.
