ICE detains Univ. of Minnesota graduate student

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota (KCRG) - Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained an international graduate student at the University of Minnesota Thursday.
According to a statement released by the University of Minnesota, ICE officials detained the student at an off-campus residence.
The statement claims the university had no prior knowledge of the incident and did not provide any information to authorities before the incident occurred.
The university’s department of public safety, including the University of Minnesota’s Police Department, does not enforce public immigration laws, nor do they question individuals regarding their immigration status.
The graduate student at the University of Minnesota is just one of many students being detained by ICE across the U.S.
